RED / A GALLERY / THE 7TH INTERNATIONAL ENCAUSTIC CONFERENCE

Here are some more "RED" pieces that will be at A Gallery during the Seventh International Encaustic Conference that is happening May 31, June 1, and June 2, 2013 in Provincetown, Mass. The show will run from May 31 through June 7 at 192 Commercial Street and the opening reception will be on Friday, May 31 from 5 to 10pm. There are 15 concurrent exhibitions associated with the Conference, so there will be plenty to see!

A Gallery presents RED

RED



Here's my entry: "red", 24" x 24", encaustic and oil on panel, 2013.  It has several layers of drawing and painting using lots of red!

Red is such an emotionally charged color, the strongest of them all I think. The hot color of blood or anger in western European cultures, but I prefer the notion from eastern cultures that red signifies good fortune or, as with the Australian aboriginal culture, the land and the earth.
